Save Your Used Printer Cartridges For FLMR

Brenda Lazarus

Did you know that one ink cartridge can take over 450 years to decompose in a landfill? Why throw out your ink cartridges when there are better options?

The Friends of Lower Muskingum River is now collecting used inkjet printer cartridges, toner cartridges, MP3 players, and cell phones as part of a recycling fundraiser. Items collected will be sent to a recycling company who will recycle the items and pay FLMR for every item collected. FLMR can receive up to $4.25 for each inkjet cartridge sent in and even more for cell phones and MP3 players.

The program is easy. Instead of throwing out your old ink cartridges and other electronics, place them in a bag and bring them to an FLMR event or to our office at 348 Muskingum Drive. Ink cartridges and toner cartridges must be undamaged and still have the manufacturer’s label on them.

So start saving your old ink cartridges, cell phones, and MP3 players for FLMR today. Ask your friends and family to help out too! Remember that every cartridge collected will help FLMR implement important projects within the Lower Muskingum River Watershed.
